Freemusicsoftware.org has to be about one of the sweetest sites we have come across in a while. They have cataloged one of the largest collections of free VST Instruments, VST Effects, Samples, and Music Software I have ever seen. Just their Virtual Instrument links archive alone is worth checking out. Most of the Virtual Instruments I have checked out thus far seem to be very high, professional quality and some are even comparable to the sounds I can get from my Native Instruments collection.
