Farhanians at Instructables has posted 2 simple projects on creating a couple of mini, portable AC units to help you keep your cool in tight spaces this summer. Supplies needed appear to be nothing more than a cooler, some rechargeable batteries, some ice, and a computer fan.

Farhanians @ Instructables has a clever and simple little DIY mini air conditioner project for you to use at your computer desk from some batteries, a computer fan and a Styrofoam case from a fast food joint. This won’t cool down an entire room however I imagine it would create a nice cool personal breeze for you. Give it a look. Link to instructable….

If you are like me and live in an old house without central heating and cooling, then you know how horrible these heat waves can be. Even with a window mount AC sometimes it is just not enough and I am always wishing I had some alternative way to cool the back of the house down where a window mount is out of the question. Assorted Tips has a great DIY project for creating your own AC unit for a total cost of somewhere around $35-$45 assuming you have some scrap wood laying around the house. Check it out. Link….
